Projects an image of a grandfather clock with moving pendulum, etc. onto a convenient surface in home or office. Shows conventional clock face with moving hands. Programmable for style of numerals and case. Can be adjusted for size of available space. Image can be bounced from mirrors so projection unit can be hidden. Options for sounds of ticking and gongs included.

The gongs should be projected, too, heh, to seem to be coming from the projected clock, of course!

Ticks, tocks, gongs, chimes, bells, tugboat whistles, explosions, screams, car crashes, etc. is wide open to the imagination and is user programmable on the hour, half, or quarter hour.

       Can it be haunted?
Voice, Dec 20 2012

It's a projection clock but when you press the button, a raspy man's voice says "Back in my day we didn't have these new-fangled projection clocks, we had to get out of bed, walk 10 miles to the church in a foot of snow to see what time it was, now get to your chores you rapscallion!"

[FlyToast], you could instead post the idea that a wrist watch could be projected onto your wrist from a projector hidden in your hat.
sqeaketh the wheel, Dec 20 2012

Or the idea that a grandfather could be projected (optically or mechanically) onto the wall from a clock on the other side of the room.
spidermother, Dec 20 2012

If a grandfather were projected mechanically on to the wall from the other side of the room it seems likely that haunting could occur.

The coolest clock that I ever saw (in a museum in Amsterdam) has the image of a guy projected from inside on the clock face, where he erases and draws new clock hands every minute/hour. See link. Not sure if he's a grandfather.
