Handheld Mirror Airbag

inflate airbags and protect mirrors with them

Save your luck with this luxurious handheld mirror. Its frame contains a discrete solar panel, a battery, a sensor, and an airbag. When sensing a fall it will inflate the airbag. The frame will be rendered useless and you'll have to buy another, but the mirror will not break!

Methinks it might be worth making mirrors out of shatter-proof polycarbonate.

Adapt this for a camera phone, then use the camera phone as an alternative to a mirror.

Phones already have airbags (in prototype form), as well as pop-out springy legs on the corners. Most people just use a good case, though.
