Hymn Bingo

Win Big

Fewer and fewer people these days are looking to religion for answers, although not a religious person myself I find this very sad. However stupid religions can be they have still controlled almost every aspect of our culture and have lead us to where we are today. This is why I am suggesting a new crowd pulling tactic, hymn bingo! Upon entering the place of worship you are given a card with numbers on it, the religious leader prepares his speech like any other, however every time he mentions a number if its on your card you tick it off, until all your numbers have been said, whereupon you shout house. Different prizes could be awarded each week, bigger prizes for special days. e.g. Win salvation this Christmas. On less important days, smaller prizes could be offered e.g. One day of guilt free coveting. I am not a religious person or a bingo player but combining the two sounds like fun.

Today, we'll be looking a bit closer at Unity. Last week, we looked at Ephesians 4:4-6 and John 10:30, today we'll examine Exodus 6:3 and 1st John 5:7, Now...
Holy Shit! BINGO!

Here in the UK there is a large chain of bingo halls called "Mecca".

Praise the Lord, I've won the collection.

Churches already use Bingo to lure the masses (at least in Britain). So, Widely Baked.

       Hallelujah!

To DrCurry, do they Ive heard of them doing it in church halls but not to plug the relgion. I got the idea off eastenders.

With the horrific lyrical quality of modern worship music, you could substitute words, ie, Lord, you, love, celebrate, etc.

"I got the idea off eastenders." Tut, tut, tut...
DrCurry, Apr 15 2003

Curry once again completely fails to comprehend the idea while calling it baked..

Mr Risk, you are // not a religious person // indeed. As such you do not take into consideration the reasons why people attend church. Fishbone.

\\ Ive heard of them doing it in church halls but not to plug the relgion \\

What's that then [Mr Risk]?
silverstormer, Apr 15 2003

if you unplug the relgion, all the water in the font leaks out - or so I heard.
po, Apr 15 2003

Glad you cleared that up for me [po] was getting worried for a second.

I'm Christian, yet find myself strangely attracted toward giving this idea a croissant. Only problem though, most people I know think Christianity is some kind of cult, trying to 'lure people in', or as you put it: 'crowd pulling'. I don't believe Christianity is about trying to brainwash the world into seeing everything from our level. Although, I must admit, a light-hearted game of NIV Bingo would certainly cheer me up any Sunday. What a sinner am I! +

//I don't believe Christianity is about trying to brainwash the world into seeing everything from our level//
"Our level" being higher than everyone elses, I presume.

It depends on how low you go, thumb.

I don't see monkey implying anything judgmental--no need to respond so aggressively.

       "House!" "of God!"

suggest: extend game to 'topics you should not discuss in church'. points for 'quality of sin'. 1. 'That' blonde on the second row 2. Swearing 3. Speeding 4. 'i was sooo drunk' stories etc..

extra points if clergy are involved.

Bingo is the opium of the masses

I thought many forms of Christianity were already a kind of snakes and ladders game anyway: Help old lady across road...climb up the ladder....steal cash from the old lady...wheee down the snake again. Do we need to add bingo?

this one no doubt does not truly get what Jesus was all about
