Live Movie Theater

how about some live actors to add a thrill to the latest horror movie?

So the lastest horror flick is out in the movie theaters...what better to add a thrill than some live action in the aisles? If nothing else than a breeze-through of the villain, or a rustling of those creepy curtains covering the walls. This could also apply to any genre of movie. A live simulation of a scene as it plays in the background could be interesting...or it could just be distracting. Perhaps the characters in the film are going to the movies...having them enter and sit near the front would be kinda cool. The possibilities are endless...use your imagination.

...as well as other theme parks. The Terminator 2 attraction at Universal Studios comes to mind. (see link)

They should interact with a staged member of the audience; start chasing 'em around the room with a knife. It'd work until some louse doesn't understand the concept and dials 911 on their cell.

Ray Dennis Steckler did this for his movie "The Incredibly Strange Creatures That Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies" (no lie!). He called the presentation "Hallucinogenic Hypnovision."

At the premiere of the original 13 Ghosts, a skeleton was rigged to come towards the crowd at one of the pivotal moments in the film. What a showman.

*clarification* I know about the deals theme parks and such, but isn't T2 and others also like a ride in that it has simulator seats that move with the motion of the action? However, I've often sat in horror movies craving an extra thrill and thought how cool it would be if there were live actors to add to the experience. So in the tradition of themed mini golf...why not have a themed movie theater? Something different to do in the big city.

Sounds to me like this has ben done all over the nation already. It's called "Rocky Horror Picture Show".

Yes, I know it's not scary, but the same concept is being used. Interaction with the audience. Yes, perhaps on a more extreme aspect. But similar enough for my point.

I always thought it would be neat to go to an "interactive movie theater" where you would feel as if you were actually IN the movie. For example if the characters in the movie were outside & it was windy & cold then the theater would get windy & cold - or if characters walk into a bakery then the smell of freshly baked goods (croissants!) would waft through the air of the theater. I realize this might be similar to theme parks that offer this type of experience (lik Universal Studios) - but it would be nice to see something like this in your own hometown theater - so that you wouldn't have to buy a plane ticket to experience this sort of thing!

Baked. See your local off-Broadway theater production for details.
