Musical Prisons

Downsize prisons by simply removing one bed every night

Prison overcrowding is rife, and prison populations in a lot of otherwise borderline civilised societies are absolutely vast. Prison populations are also disproportionately made up of whatever people are minorities in that particular country.

I therefore propose 'Musical Prisons' based on the children's party game Musical Chairs.

Basically every day one prison bed is removed and the lowest risk prisoner is released back into the wild.

Once the population is back to an acceptable level prisons operate a one-in-one-out policy where the least risky offenders are released to make way for the newest crims.

Oh ... I was expecting to find out that if convicted I had the option of serving a reduced sentence duration in a pop - country - rap facility.

Which would serve as a deterrent, I should add ...

I was hoping for a scheme whereby a prisoner is allowed early release if they reach a professional standard in a musical instrument.

The jail cell bars could all be slightly different lengths/weights, so that as the guards drag their truncheons across them, a tune is played.

Oh, and it's a good idea, by the way ... (+)

And interesting idea that would need a new title to be considered in real life obviously. [+]

+ Nice idea...I was thinking the prison bars could be tuned like a xylophone, so when the prisoners ran their cups back and forth against the bars, music would ensue! (sorry I see that [mitxela] said similar, but it different words.)

I don't think there is a piece music that will stimulate the auditory pathways to invoke a feeling of guilt. That would be Pavlov's criminal. Or is there?

If it was a glockenspiel, then prisoners would have hammers!
