       [contracts].....I'm confused....which genre of entertainment ? Z-rated crap or MST 3000 ?

Two schools of eye-ntertainment there. And this coming from a man who has not had television in his home for the last 4 years. [maybe that's why I had to ask]

       What is original about this?
waugsqueke, Apr 12 2005

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, lets see, maybe it's the fact that it doesn't exist as of yet.
Blumster, Apr 13 2005

And don't tell me that the combination of ideas to create a new unique idea doesn't count. See all music, art, or any media over the last billion years for examples of this.
Blumster, Apr 13 2005

"Doesn't exist" does not make something original. Of course that's not a prerequisite around here anyway.

I just thought you could make better use of those three brain cells it took to come up with this than rehash the Mystery _____ Theatre meme.
waugsqueke, Apr 13 2005

Three little brain cells sitting in a tree B-A-K-I-N-G.

Stop being so preachy. You ever pause to think how much you sound like that annoying third grade teacher that thought you were a communist because you wore tight pants? Cause you do.

Are you or have you ever been a member of the Tight Pants Party?

       I get that a lot.

For the reality TV show category, this is probably one of the most original ideas. (Not quite "Naked women shopping for shoes with naughty monkeys" but still good for the category). Not a mystery science fan [waugs]? There would be less sarcastic entertainment, but I, for one, would be the first to tune in to watch the slow mental breakdown of all those hateful hateful "celebrities".

I enjoyed MST3K as much as the next guy, but ideas based on replacing what's on the screen in front of the crew are boring and unoriginal. Seriously, the author only changed one word in the summary from the actual show concept. Zzz.

If you kids really get that excited by this idea, you're pretty cheap dates.

       Looks like I missed something.

Is it just me or is it hostile in here?
AfroAssault, Apr 15 2005

<it won't ever happen> I'd like to see a 'roast by rotation' starring every contestent ever eliminated from any of the R-al TV shows. A new one each episode.

Who moderates? Tom, Crow, and Servo works for me.
reensure, Apr 15 2005

I have never seen this Mystery Science theatre programme but would I be correct in assuming that it's like Waldorf & Statler, only more bitchy, is that right? Whatever, ripping handpicked old B movies to bits is far easier than providing amusing commentary on what could be essentially ten lackwits sitting in a room whingeing about being bored. I doubt that there is anyone with the comedy chops to make this amusing without it lapsing into a procession of tedious sniping & profanity.
calum, Apr 15 2005

A bit like sitting in the boothe seat behind Waldorf & Statler, yes. Instead of cutaway to comment, though, the movie plays on and the commentary is intermittent.

Never seen MST3000? Then, the downside of this for you would be seeing reality TV series edited for time to allow dead air time for the insertion of commentary -- a difficult task for R-al TV shows which are typically in hour long broadcast format.

Can someone point out what's inventive here? Combine x with y ideas don't generally hit the mark unless you get something unexpected or inventive by doing so.
st3f, Apr 15 2005

I think this would be better if it were a reality show itself. Actually put someone in space and make them watch bad reality TV, and give him zany robots as sidekicks. If he can survive for a few months, he earns money.
Worldgineer, Apr 15 2005

Why bother to go to the expense of sending them to space when they can be forced to view it from earth like the rest of us?
