Strapless bicycle helmet

An improved bicycle helmet, one of the last difficulties with bicycle helmets is the annoyance of a chinstrap, without this the helmet feels more comfortable but currently is not certified as effective. There are a variety of head retention mechanisms that could be expanded further to grab the head (like an octopus) and allow the helmet to be strapless yet still effective.

The Truth about Octipi! http://www.octopustruth.com/index.htm
I'm sure it's just a legend that pirates made up to scare commonfolk away from friendly octopi and to get laser beamed in the eye by crooked dolphins so they can steal your ship....but beware nonetheless! [quantum_flux, Nov 03 2008]

On a coincidental note, got offered a tray with assorted 1/2 pastries as I was writing this, had to have a 1/2 croissant!

I was unaware they were training octopi to ride bicycles.

Popup and cheesy MIDI file alerts for the first link.

I'd like a nautilus version, too. For durablility, due to the shell.

[Cedarpark] sorry about that, my pc is reasonably well protected so no pop ups

Yeah, safety pins for one. Like that guy in Highlander used.

I have often thought that the chinstrap was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Why can’t the helmet have a strap that goes around the back of your head in the style of a drill instructor’s hat?

I find that a hand of bananas suffices adequatley for my cycle helmet needs

I'd like [amos_kito]'s nautilus as long as it looked like one too. Except of course that I wouldn't ever need one as I refuse to ride a bike (work of the devil). Maybe adapt for motorbikes?

qf - I'll never look at an octopus in the same way again. + BTW, I hate chinstraps on cycle helmets
