For a very small fee, this company will make sure your computer's desktop background is synced in real time to a random graphic designer in their network (or other computer artist), who is creating something in Photoshop or Illustrator. This would be a screen shot of the overall project and working environment, or an update able "merge visible" shot of the piece.

[+] I like any idea that helps artists make a buck. But if you sync your computer to a computer artist would that put him to sleep if you don't use your system for 10 minutes?

You could watch me for a regular supply of Cadbury's Moments. Or for a higher fee, you could watch someone good...

Great idea - but why limit it to graphic designers? Let's see what engineers, architects and nuclear physicists are up to as well - I think it would be cathartic to see how much time other 'working' people spend messing about on the internet as well.

A live feed of photographs uploaded from photographers' laptops to a syndicated photo agency would be interesting too. You could acheive this on a smaller scale by grabbing photographs from the "Most recent uploads" page of an online service like Flickr.

Or couple *your* desktop to your bosses...

What would be a real gas would be a collaboration, where multiple artists work on the same piece, either as one of the artists or just watching.

I was thinking more of an abstract fine art piece than something like designing a web page. I've done a number of large abstract canvases (5 x 10 ft) in acrylics with as many as 5 artists. The first rule is nothing is sacred, you can paint out anyones work and if they bitch they can get kicked out. There's no need for an eraser with acrylics you just paint right over it. Part of the fun is watching an artists face as his cherished bit in the corner is covered with paint because it really didn't fit with the rest of the painting. It teaches you to be spontaneous and react to the painting rather than start with a preconceived notion of what it's going to look like. It's the exact opposite of painting from a photograph. The result is usually a very unique piece of art that blends the styles of all the artists involved. It's great fun even if the piece sucks at the end of it.

If you are syncing in real time why not sync to a high definition webcam of something purty?
