A circular platform is suspended, exactly parallel to the ground, above a fairly large blank canvas. Upon the platform rest many paint-filled balls of various colors, arranged in a pattern or design. These balls are similar to paintballs, but of varying sizes, and more fragile. They're solid enough that they won't leak or burst by rolling into each other, but delicate enough that they won't survive a trip several feet to the floor.

The entire installation is placed in an area known for relatively frequent earthquakes (indoors somewhere, and away from traffic, wind, and other sources of extraneous vibration). One piece may take years of preparation, and only seconds to produce.

       (+) It's not San Andrea's fault.
