robot bull rodeo

The riders of fully grown bulls at rodeo events are totally amazing. Possessing agility, balance, strength and total courage is a unique and rarely equaled combination of attributes.

To further challenge these gladiator cowboys, I'm proposing the opportunity for them to ride a robot bull.

This bucking, leaping, twisting metal monster will imitate the actions of a real bull as it tries to fling off anyone who is foolhardy enough to attempt to ride it around a rodeo ring.

A combination of ai programming linked to sensors on its back ensures the robot bull is fully "aware" of the presence of the rider. This combination will cause it to fling itself around in replication of the behaviour of the real bulls on which it has been trained.

Riders of the robot bull risk serious injury and even death, though unlike a real bull, it can be instantly stopped at any time by a simple kill signal.

Other Robeo events under development that mimic the live challenges at these unique competitions.

...cheaper than the other bulls... [minoradjustments, Apr 20 2025]

Yee-hah!!! I guess you've never been to a sports bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Many have one of these for the entertainment of the clientele and they serve as support for the local trauma/urgent care center.

You really didn't know this was not only fully baked but monetized, overused, and abused? I never understood the attraction but if you are drunk enough...

I think what Xen is going for here is a fully animatronic robot, that has legs and actually runs around and jumps like a real animal, like those robotic "dogs" made by Boston Dynamics. I can definitely see the appeal, as a cruelty free alternative to using living animals while providing just as much spectacle and entertainment to watch and with added safety for the riders. Unfortunately, the tech simply isn't there yet. They haven't, to my knowledge, figured out how to make robots with that much agility and dexterity yet. Bad science, I'm afraid. But leave the post up, because I bet we'll be there in the next 20 years.
