Scarecase Carpet is a printed staircase covering that is an optical illusion devised to make negotiating a flight of stairs an activity that must be carried out with much greater caution.

To create the Scarecase Carpet, a high resultion image is taken of an existing flight of stairs, complete with the subtle shadows at each riser step. This image is then stretched by 20% and used to print/weave a new stair carpet. Now when this carpet is placed back unto the flight of stairs, the effect of the Scarecase Carpet results.

Those negotiating the stairs now need to do so with great caution as the eyes can be deceived from the confusion generated by the convincing dual optics.

* warning - Scarecase Carpet can cause those not paying sufficient attention to miss their footing and tumble down to the bottom of the stairs.
