What the flock?

ok. bear with me. cross a kangaroo with a sheep to get a herbivorous, pouched, grass eating wooly animal.

Next, ditch the golf trolley in favour of a flock of 16 or so of your newly bred Sheep-Roos. Your clubs fit into the pouches of your sheep-roo. You'll need one sheep-roo for each club.

Here's the rub : you'll need a sheep-roo dog to separate the correct animal to select your club. In effect, controlling your sheep-roo dog gives you something to do whilst you walk between shots. Indeed, it also means that the spectators have something to watch. Extra points for good dog work. Golf and sheep dog trials combined.

Also, the animals can keep the fairway grass nice and short.

This is just another sport for me to suck at.

what about a wolf in cheap clothing instead ? (farside gag) [jonthegeologist] I think you've lost it.

//16 or so// will get you disqualified [jtg].
Maxium 14 sheep-roos as Ian Woosnam will tell you. +
gnomethang, Jul 25 2003

[gnomethang] you're forgetting the sheep-roo needed for spare balls and another for your waterproofs. 16 sheep-roo should cover it
jonthegeologist, Jul 26 2003

You'd better make that 17 or more - you'll need somewhere to store the alcohol that makes golf bearable.
my face your, Jul 26 2003

point well noted my face your. Right, we're all agreed - 17 sheep-roo and one dog required.

re: "cross a kangaroo with a sheep...." How are you going to cross the reproductive isolation barrier? Genetic magic? And if you end up with quadrapeds, won't the clubs be forever falling out?
lintkeeper2, Jul 26 2003

"what's that skip? an evil dicatator has cross bred your brother with dolly the sheep in the hope of creating a new game to impress his friends and win influence around the board room table"

"you must be hoppin' someone made that up"
neilp, Jul 26 2003

[linty] was looking to avoid magic and use some genetic technology. Failing application of existing techs, we could skip the sheep-roo and just have a 'flock' of trained roo.

Alternatively, stick with the sheep and simply knit pockets for the clubs within its fleece.

Can I have my bun back now?!
jonthegeologist, Jul 26 2003

I have yet to vote. However, if you eliminate the gene splicing, and stick to 17 sheep with club-pockets continuously herded by the dog as you play (the best part of the idea), I will push out a bun for you.

       bun

I thought kangaroo's were good enough, minus the stuff in their pouches.+...sheeparoo is a cooler name in my opinion.
swimr, Jul 17 2004

i see no reason why not.
jonthegeologist, Apr 08 2007

If each animal only has to carry one club, then you could use regular sheep.
