Tab Mute

I'm not looking at it, so why would I want to hear it?

A feature that automatically mutes tabs when they go out of focus. It would also mute each browser window instance when it is out of focus.

You should also be able to override the muting of a specific tab if you are playing something you want to listen to (like radio) while browsing elsewhere.

This could possibly be extended to features like an auto pause for video when the tab goes out of focus, but I suspect this would have to be added as a feature that websites could code for rather than something the browser could control.

I'm suggesting that this be an add-on or a check box in settings, not default behaviour.

Absolutely, yes! Yesterday i was looking for Morse code in music and the site which gave details had a MIDI soundtrack which couldn't be turned off, so i had to cut and paste the text to hear the actual tracks concerned.

       [21Q], i do that too.

No, the feature was in the idea from the start. It's just us humans with our short attention spans.

a complement from Jutta is rare indeed, and also temporary it seems. Fair's fair, it was inaccurate anyway.

[+] while we're at it how'bout mandating a Stop button on streaming-video: finding out after 3 seconds it's crap shouldn't mean having to download the entire thing.
