I know they have pencil sharpeners and then they also have tape dispensers. I was walking through Wally world looking for the both of them and I thought, "Hey! Why not put them together?"

There are several different ways this could be done. 1. Normal tape dispenser with extended back portion holding the pencil sharpener. 2. Tape dispenser with a larger front end holding the sharpener underneath the little knife edge thing. 3. Ok I just ran out of ideas.

By the way I'm new so if I don't make sense please tell me. :D

Unless you can prove to me that this is either a) new, or at least a bit inventive, or b) funny, I'm afraid I can't bun this idea.

Can you feel the hairs on the back of your neck rising? a funny queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach? -That's the fishbones coming.

I wish you the best of luck.

Hey, it's let's-all-beat-on-the-new-guy! (gal?) I thought it was a cute idea. (Though I'd like to see an illustration - these combo office things are pretty commonplace, after all.)

Tape dispenser with the sharpener held by the cylinder of the tape... when you pull the tape the blade spins.
So - to use it, stick the pencil in and pull the tape.

So what if you didn't need any tape, you have a sharp(ish) pencil. What you complain about?
Jinbish, Aug 30 2006

can't you store the energy of the spin until you need your pencil sharpened?

I thought this was tape that somehow sharpened...

[DrCurry] If you look carefully, the first link has three separate units, one function each, each shaped like a cow.

[po] I thought the same, and wondered why I needed sharp tape. But then, a friend asked why my housemate and I wanted a (frickin') laser; maybe if you need to ask you will never know.

You could use a spring or a flywheel to store the energy - no, what's that light that's emitted when you pull off a piece of tape? Use that, and a solar cell, and a supercapacitor. Done.

(edit) Triboluminescence. That's the one (link).

[jpthepirate] Look what's happening to your nice-and-simple idea. Welcome to the H.B. Mwahahahaha.

no, incywincymum. I meant tape that you wound round the top of your pencil and somehow it reduced the wood...

       <contemplative spout-climbing action> Ah, so. </cs-ca>

UB has a point. There are far too few sharp pencils in the world.
jurist, Aug 30 2006

there is even less sharp tape.

You live and you learn. Apparently nasty comments (although not intentioned as such) sincerely withdrawn and apologised for. I still don't want one however.

A suit sharpener, now that's something I'd take out a loan for.

Practical devices are few and far between around here. Most ideas are goofy and impractical. Your's is neither, and it speaks well of your talent that you've gotten one and a half buns already with this.

I'm new here too, and I still want ideas that can actually work and do some good in the world... like this one. I'll be expecting more good work from you in the future...

Here's a very fresh bun, straight out of the halfbakery for you.
ye_river_xiv, Aug 31 2006

//By the way I'm new so if I don't make sense please tell me. :D// it makes perfect sense, but it's "baked". This means that it already exists as evidenced in the links. Now if it did something else as well as sharpening pencils, that nothing else does....like ???? well, that's where the invention comes in.

The round pencil shrpener bit could be placed in the round hole in a scotch tape dispenser.
jellydoughnut, Sep 01 2006

ok- how about the sharpener saves up all the bits, and a double-sided tape releases on one side to become embedded with the wood and graphite shavings? I'd get on line for it.

Somehow tape dispensers and pencil sharpeners all seem to have gone the way of green visors and dial telephones. That being said, I'll always support the combining of paraphernalia regardless of its utility in this millennia. I'd like to see a hole somewhere on this apparatus to stick the eraser for an "automated" cleaning. Erasing the eraser so to speak. Why is this a "business and not a product?"
Arcana, Dec 25 2007

Tape is dangerous enough if it gets stuck to your eye. If there were sharp tape - well , that seems like a recipe for the Endtime to me.
