By taking crocodiles and introducing them to the Rio Grande.
Also signs saying that there are man eating reptiles around. With all this border security non-sense this seems to be a farely practical way of preventing people from crossing the Rio Grande.
Texas Alligator Range

I don't know for sure, but there may be Alligators in the river already. They are in Texas. |
I looked on google earth for maybe 100 to 200 miles along the river trying to find a person. I didn't even see 1 boat. I figured that w/ the numbers they are saying that I'd be able to find a couple of people, but I found nothing. Also, the Rio Grand has about a 50' stretch at its end that doesn't even make it to the ocean, so people could just walk across there. |
I'd also point out, that from talking to someone I used to work with, that he saw them (gators) from time to time canoeing, & though they made him feel uncomfortable, he didn't madly panic & make a dash for the shoreline.
26.13.07N,98.28.58W - looks more like la migra to me. |
They'd still just tunnel or catapult over. |
OK then breed the American aligator in larger numbers and release them along the length of the river. Or breed the Aligators with a more agresive species. Ok and then fabricate stories of people being eaten by gators and publish them in the various towns along the river. |
Yeah, anyone trying to enter the States illegally deserves to die. |
Place a great big sign on the shore that reads... |
"Experimental Nessie breeding ground" |

I REALLY think egbert meant that sarcasto-ironically. I will bet you money. |

//They are by far the deadliest animal in the world// Despite what Discovery Channel tells you [phlish] I don't think hippos kill more than the 50,000 humans per year that snakes do. Even breaking it down into single species, some snakes that are widespread in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Burma kill several thousand humans each year. |
Is there a more invasive species than the American Red Neck? |
I'll also point out that parts of the Rio Grande might freeze over. |
Surely the humble disease-ridden mosquito is the world's most deadly animal. |
How about the humble tobacco products merchant? Surely they kill more people per year. |
Relax [baconbrain]. Here, have a ciggy. |
"Snakes: nature's quitters." |
Yeah, I guess humans are the deadliest. Sweet. It's good to be on the winning team. |
Of course, the crocs won't be tempted to leave the Rio (not so) Grande, because there's all kinds of croc food growing naturally there. |
I suppose to boost aligator numbers we could feed them to the point where they lose their fear of humans. |
When I saw "invasive species" I thought you meant the kudzu plant, or maybe purple loosestrife. How about we fill the whole area with poison ivy? And sticker bushes. We could also turn out all sewage there. Then anyone who gets in has proven themselves worthy. Call it the "Rio Grande Redemption" |

/Why do you think your groceries are so cheap. Who do you think picks those tomatoes and avacados you eat all winter long?//
Bit of an assumption going on there phlish. Perhaps you need to establish some facts first? (hint: Not everybody in the world lives in the USA). |
This idea is almost as ridiculous as a large wall, which would be more expensive, and just as ineffective & offensive. |

oh, and catch the link I just posted. Outfuggingragous. |
