On a cliff overlooking a beach in Bora Bora, at the summit of Mount Everest, perhaps halfway submerged on the Great Barrier Reef watching exotic fish swim by on the lower side of the walls and beautiful clouds passing overhead.

All changeable with the click of a switch.

The device placed at various locations consists of five cameras aiming north, south, east, west and up and streams their images in real time to this hotel's view screen walls. Sit in a hot tub sipping wine and transferring your location at the flick of a remote button to dozens of beautiful locations around the planet.

When you get bored watching the elephants and giraffes stroll by in Tanzania, click over to Iguazu Falls and marvel as the torrents of water cascade around your room. Ever wanted to stay in the top room of Neuschwanstein Castle? That's channel 26.

The cameras all have microphones as well so when relaxing at the end of your day you can be lulled to sleep by sounds of the Amazon jungle in quintophonic (5 channel) sound as the sun sets over the canopy.

"Stop channel surfing and give me that remote, you're making me dizzy".

Of course, with VR goggles you could do away with the hotel entirely.
MaxwellBuchanan, Dec 29 2016

Well, lounging around with a pair of sweaty goggles on doesn't sound very appealing.
doctorremulac3, Dec 29 2016

So, drink a tequila while you lounge. The savings will still be immense.
MaxwellBuchanan, Dec 29 2016

Well, at some point you might as well ditch the goggles as well.

But posting "Sit in the bathtub and get drunk on tequila" doesn't sound like you'd get a lot of buns.

Although it couldn't do worse than the response I'm getting with this one. Maybe I should post it to test my theory.

Of course, the bathtub could be implemented in software...

What gets referred to as "virtual reality" should be called "strapping a video phone to your face".

If you want me, I'll be out in the flying car.
normzone, Dec 31 2016

<ponders wisdom of informing [norm] that the "flying car" is only VR, and can't "jump" railway crossings and deep canyons>

<determines that keeping quiet is by far the best policy>

"Brazil", opium dens, "Who framed Rodger Rabbit?" , Google Maps and sixpence in her shoe.

Then turn up the lights and see the unfinished concrete block and rebar interior.
