A building would be outfitted to look like the interior of a spaceship. Screens would be fitted to various ship's displays. Replicators would be created by preparing various meals behind-the-scenes ahead of time. A client would enter the menu item on a screen, a door would slide shut, then slide open again with the requested item. Cabins windows/displays would be outfitted with appropriate scenes as determined by where the virtual ship would be.

Outings could be performed by donning a space-suit-like affair with VR goggles. Alien environments could be simulated as required by having a large room with props, actors, and air conditioning. Certain rooms would be outfitted to tilt to and fro.

Why wait for science to catch up when you can explore Right Now? Escape from an alien prison! Perform delicate negotiations to save the empire from war. Or just tell both sides to where to shove their treaty and shoot to kill! Meet alien babes of any imaginable gender! Travel to Vulcan, to the Klingon homeworld, to Pluto, or any of a hundred other planets! Taste the food, taste the excitement! Fight a Romulan for control of the ship! Or start out as a stow-away and earn your place as a valued crewman. The adventures are endless.

Searched for this Knowing somebody would have put it together. I'm guessing there are several pages devoted to our beloved fallen heros in red. [doctorremulac3, Aug 29 2019]

       Short Star Trek script by Doctorremulac3:

       Kirk: "The Valunzions are a violent race on a dangerous planet so make sure your phazers are fully charged. Spock, Bones, Johnson, you're beaming down with me."

       Johnson: "Captain, uhhh, I've got a red shirt."

       Kirk: "So?"

       Johnson: "I'm an unknown actor with two lines "Yes sir." and "I'm going into this cave to see what that noise is.".

       Kirk: (gesturing wildly and pausing between words for emphasis) "Make... your... point...Johnson! I'mgettingtiredofthis!"

       Johnson: "So I'm just here to get killed. I'm not going down there."

       Spock: "Fascinating."

       Bones: "Damn it Jim!"

       Aaaand... scene!

       Actually, the Red Shirt of Doom is quite predictable. For example, Lt. Uhura is frequently seen in a red shirt, but - despite visiting dangerous places, and even being kidnapped on occasions - she conspicuously fails to get killed. [doc] has noted the cogent factors -

       {

       if ( (shirt == RED) && (character == NEW) && (lines <= 3)) outcome = DEATH;

       return (CORPSE);

       }

       Why is it that, despite our repeated offers, no halfbakers have ever taken the opportunity to visit our Cube ? Apart, that is, from [MB] and members of his family, who we didn't invite, didn't want, and struggled to get rid of (besides which, the damage was quite extensive, and there's still a very odd lingering odour in places which is probably Sturton's aftershave, although it smells remarkably like a solution of coypu excrement in automatic transmission fluid. Then again, he may just have spilt some of the contents of one of his hip-flasks.)

       There's going to have a lot of crew, to run all those doors.

       //(lines <= 3)) outcome = DEATH;//

       I'm checking to see if the line "Yes sir." is the most common final words from redshirts.

       Most common cause of death seems to be zapped by futuristic death ray. See link.

       SCENE: The QM's stores at Starfleet Academy.

       A CADET approaches the counter, behind which is a CHIEF PETTY OFFICER.

       CPO: "Ah, kit issue, USS Enterprise ?"

       CADET: "Yes, sir !"

       CPO: (Dumping a pile of clothing on the COUNTER) "Right, my son ... Boots, black, one pair, socks, two pairs, trousers, black, two pairs, shirt, red, two..."

       CADET: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO !"

       CPO: (kindly) "Yes, I'm sorry, lad. It's a nasty job, but someone has to do it, however briefly."
