A large clear plastic tube placed verticaly. it is tapered so it is narrow at the bottom and wider at the top. As the wind blows over the top of the tube a venturi effect pulls air up through the tube causing a large ball to float in the air stream up the tube. The faster the wind the higher it floats.

Good idea, but it's been done. I've had one of those for years--I bought it at a kite shop. I've seen similar ones mounted on the front of ultralight aircraft. |
