World's First Funny Clown Gag

Blows confetti out of his butt like he's farting confetti to punctuate jokes.

So the clown walks on stage, everybody's miserable because clowns aren't funny.

He walks into a store with a sign that says "Please don't cough or sneeze." Then sniffs the oversize flower on his lapel, does the "Ahh... ahhhh..... ahhhhhhh..." pre sneeze thing and tries to stifle it by covering his mouth and then a confetti cannon in the back of his costume blows a massive cloud of confetti like some big colorful fart.

The soundtrack plays a stifled sneeze sound and a massive farting noise.

I don't think there's a person on Earth that wouldn't laugh at this.

Well, I'd bet money on this.

Actually a better device would be he walks into a store with a sign that says "Please don't cough of sneeze." Then sniffs the oversize flower on his lapel, does the "Ahh... ahhhh..... ahhhhhhh..." pre sneeze thing and tries to stifle it by covering his mouth and THEN the confetti cannon thing.

Ok, poc, how about that? Would THAT make you at least crack a smile? It's timely too with the covid "don't sneeze" poster.

C'mon poc, you smiled at that, admit it.

(I'm changing this to the main joke, it's better than the cookie/indigestion thing)

       No

Oh well, at least I tried to make you smile.

Subtitle makes it funnier. Something like "Color and sound of clown farting". I see this as customary in future Trump speeches. "And I said to him...(waves his arms like a clown pulling people in), crouches a little, farts low and long, then louder, then in really obnoxious bursts.

I understand that's a comedian's joke in that, as you say, it's not funny but if you can deliver it and make people laugh you've achieved an industry standard challenge.

I saw Gilbert Godfree do a pretty good job, he basically yelled the whole thing and it was somewhat interesting.

But riddle me this, if at the end of that joke after the punchline they blasted a stage full of confetti out of their butt would they get more laughs? I think so.

Hey poc, I just had a "well duh" moment.

This is a suprise sight gag, the laughing comes when you get suprised by this event, not by the description.

So yes, saying "clown apprears to blow confetti out of his butt" is not funny, because it's not a joke. It's a description of something that when executed, will be funny."

If you pick your favorite funny sight gag scene in a movie for instance, look at the script. It's not funny, it's the acting out the scene that's funny. Look at a Benny Hill script. "Benny Hill is holding a wilted flower - sexy girl struts into room - wilted flower pops up suggesting an erection " Now is that funny? No, but the sight gag might make you laugh. (by the way, I don't know if anybody ever did that, another original?)

So yes, this description is not funny, but it's not supposed to be, it's not a joke. It's a description of something that properly executed WOULD be funny.

But you'd have to imagine it. I still say this tried before a live audience would get gales of laughter. I'm going to try to find a clown to do this in his act.

Where you find clowns? Besides in sewers luring kids to their deaths.

You know what they say about if a joke needs an explanation? But since you put it like that the only way to know for sure is a rigourously designed double blind control experiment.

This would make a fantastic clown gag! Nice one :-)

       Thank you TJ.

Re link: No way! Okay, that's stupid, there's no shock value. Has to have the supressed sneeze.

And thank you for being the one to have "clown farting confetti" in your search history so I didn't have to.

Re link: I laughed, very good. Nice blend of funny and creepy.

And by the way, mildly disturbing humor is the best. For my money anyway.

Calibration check here, am I the only one who thought this article "How to get silly putty out of your sheets" begged a couple of questions?

By the way, I was looking for moldible putty sheets for a prototype process and this came up.

And anybody who read that and didn't say "Uh hu. Sure, that's your cover story anyway." has no sense of humor.

But seriously, why do some people have silly putty stains on their sheets? How did it get there? Do I even want to know?
doctorremulac3, Oct 28 2021

Not the article, the headline. It becomes unfunny when you read the article.
