iPod HUD

Heads Up Display interface for your iPod

An add on HUD unit for your iPod that would project onto your windshield. This allows you to look for your songs without taking your eyes off the road and without obstructing your vision.

Could be created using off the shelf technology.

EyeBud for iPod http://www.engadget...yebud-for-the-ipod/
Essentially baked [krelnik, Apr 12 2006]

If the Eyebud can be sold, then sure as heck this can. Laser_20CD_20Rack
Shameless self-promotion. [moomintroll, Apr 13 2006]

With optional skins and winamp type display. Where the fuck has the road gone?

But, yes, the iPod interface is pretty yucky for driving, and iPod connections now becoming a standard on motor vehicles.

       Hands free iPOD, anyone?

Actually the link is something else entirely. This is a display that is projected on your windscreen.

//This is a display that is projected on your windscreen// The idea doesn't make that clear.
[krelnik]'s link is a head-up (note spelling) display, implemented wih existing technology, so baked.

I edited Idea to clarify where this is used. As to the item in the link it is not a transparent HUD it is a viewfinder hanging in front of your eye. Not sure how they are the same.

       That's very StarTrek, [krelnik].

Well so long as it only comes up when the backlight is activated.
