Just think of it- it's the middle of the night, your kid wants to go to the bathroom, but it's dark. He pulls on his new animal nightlight slippers, and two beams of light shine from the eyes of the dragon/elephant/dog as soon as his feet hit the floor! Functional and fun! You could make it "contact
only" so that as you walk, one light is always on, but when you're resting, neither eye gets lit (saving batteries). I really think this could be the "Tickle Me Elmo" of X-mas 2004.

Hayao Miyazaki's super-cool Bake Neko "Cheshire Cat" with headlights for eyes, that races passengers from place to place along high-voltage lines. It's worth watching "Tonari no Totoro" (My Neighbor Totoro) just to see it in action. [Amos Kito, Feb 24 2008]

||[admin: the light itself isn't new, but I'm letting this stand because placing the lights in the eyes of animals adds to the design.]
