The Duolingo language learning program has a lesson with the phrase "He is a waiter and an actor." ( El es un mesero y un actore. or something.)

The point of the joke is many actors find waiting to be an easy job to get and to schedule around their acting career.

So suppose their is a major restaurant across from the theatre district or a movie studio. And you walk in and ask for a famous person, or special type to be your waiter.

Marilyn comes out and takes your order and chats about how things are going with JFK. Or your landlord brings your order and lets you yell at him for once.

Or the cast from Cats stops by to see "if everything is all right"

Actors could practice their craft at their second job, and the customers would be entertained even by the bad actors.

Maybe have a lower priced section for waiters that are still learning the ropes, and have a selection of a dozen set pieces with scripts for those with few improv skills.

"Hello, I'm Basil Fawlty, and this is your waiter for the evening, Manu … Manuel ? MANUEL ! GET OVER HERE !"

You could save money by asking for a mime waiter, and then mime leaving a tip at the end …
