Some of those bonsai gardens are multicentury plants. Thus they could be used as henge like notable day thingies. Further, the very eentsy fringe of the leaves could also be positioned to have 1 minute passing accuracy on some particular day of the year. This gives bonsai enthusiasts a reason to carry
their hobby to leaf positioning.
