Expensive, difficult, slightly dangerous, not particularly effective... I'm on a roll.

Bug Guts Distribution System

A Nutrition Bonanza for Entomophagists

Eating bugs is common in (at least) 13 countries, and is gram for gram more nutritious than beef or fish, according to "globalenvision.org". Bleah. But, it occurred to me that every summer I scrape many pounds worth of bug guts off my car and its windshield. This idea is fairly simple. Instead of scraping/washing/scrubbing them off, collect them and give them to a bug guts distribution center for use as gruel. This could easily be accomplished in at least two different ways. First, as the initial step at an automatic car wash where specialized scrapers and a vacuum system collect it into large drums. Another way would be to use those homeless guys on street corners where they run out and offer to clean your windshield -- they could collect your bug guts for free then sell it to the bug guts distributor much like receiving money for recycling pop and beer cans. Yum yum...

It's road-kill Jim, but not as we know it.

Don't forget to add the step where the laws of supply and demand are discarded.

Once the money starts rolling in from this enterprise (100% profit! YES!), you (or your competitors) will remove the windshield entirely--maybe even install funnels around it-- and collect many more, less smushed bugs.

How does the distributor differentiate the bona fide, pure bug guts from the bona fide, pure bird droppings?
infidel, Sep 20 2010

       [infidel] You're kidding, right? Taste.
Boomershine, Sep 20 2010

It seems so simple and clear when you put it that way.

Err, yes, of course it does. My mistake.

This idea might give gruel a better name.

What would be a better name for it than "gruel?" "Porridge," maybe?
mouseposture, Sep 21 2010

I should have said it might give gruel a better reputation.
