Product may also contain non-celebrity sebum, non-toxic* aromatic hydrocarbons and/or wax.

For those celebrities who already endorse a personal fragrance of some sort, that fragrance could be confused** with the other ingredients during the manufacturing process.

The eponymous ingredient should be harvested with a celebrity strigil, to be sold as a side-line. This would be decorated with a stylized bas-relief of the relevant celebrity, who would be shown naked except that their private parts would be covered by a copyright notice.

One in a thousand celebrity strigils sold would actually have been used by the celebrity in question... maybe.

**in the original sense of "poured together"

I just realised that I've been conflating sebum with septum for the last 5 years.
zen_tom, Sep 22 2011

Probably not as bad as inflating your septum with sebum.

Why not just buy the rights to dead celebrities as well, and then divide them down to individual cells and offer fans an actual DNA sequence of their idol to keep ?

You're going to do that, aren't you ?

They idea is utterly disgusting and repulsive, by the way. We're just glad there is no mention of earwax.

       // turn-ups //

Translation, please? I speak American, not English.

Oh, you mean a turnip? Yeah, we have those here. We throw them at visiting Brits wearing neoprene bodysuits and complicated headgear.
Alterother, Sep 24 2011

Fine, just don't throw your own head by mistake …

No worries. Despite the best efforts of local ruminants, it's still firmly attached.

Yes, but to what ? Deer antlers … ?

This is one of those ideas which is just made for non-implementation.
MaxwellBuchanan, Sep 25 2011

True, [MB]. On no account should anyone actually do this.

//We throw them at visiting Brits wearing neoprene bodysuits and complicated headgear.// Now I'm confused, [Alterother]; is it you or the visitor who's dressed like this?

PS, I think the original reference was to trouser turn-ups - a cuff-like arrangement just above the shoe. But I may be wrong. Careful with that turnip; I'm only trying to help.
