Electric Cigar

Much like the e-cigarette, but with a little something extra

(No "cigar" category, so this will have to do.)

Some time before electronic cigarettes hit the market widely, I posted an Idea here about that (linked). It now occurs to me that I missed something, which really can't be properly resolved in the small- diameter format of an electric/electronic cigarette.

Obviously the thing is battery powered. The batteries for e-cigs have to be somewhat special, because only a non-standard size will fit inside them. They might also be recharge-able, which merely makes them more expensive to replace, when you have to replace them (and you will; recharge-able batteries never really last a long time).

So, if we had an electric/electronic cigar, it would be wider-diameter, and could hold ordinary batteries, such as the AAA type, maybe even the AA type. Even if you got recharge-able AAA or AA batteries, they would still cost less than the current specially-sized ones used in e-cigs.

The rest of the features of an e-cigar would be pretty much the same as an e-cig, only of course the containers of dissolved nicotine could be bigger, and so it would last longer between refills.

I think somebody's beat you to it. My neighbor was over the other night, and he was using the top of the line vapor dispenser, which is the size of a large cigar, held a battery bigger than AA, and produced clouds of vapor.

Granted it was not brown and leathery, and did require recharging. I suspect that AA would die young in the application.

My link does not say what size battery it takes.

But that with a different battery doesn't sound like much of an idea to me.

Nor am I convinced the different battery would be better.

AA battery probably fits here anyway.

Yes, as [normzone] and [zeno] have outpointed, e- cigars are widely available and fairly wkte.

Now a clockwork cigar would be more innovative.

That, if I may say so, is an excellent idea.

E-cigarettes (I've never tried an e-cigar) are all well and dandy, but they lack a certain degree of interaction.

The batteries are only needed to heat the fluid and make the vapour. One could, therefore, create a clockwork e-cigar that used friction to provide the necessary heating.
