Flute Nunchucks
Spring loaded ball in chamber changes pitch as they're spun faster. | |
When they're spun, the wind moves over the sound hole and makes a note. The faster you spin them, the higher the note as the ball inside is pushed towards the end and shortens the resonant chamber.
Might be able to make music of some sort.
See link to get the idea of how much air movement you
have to work with. This would definitely work, just not sure what it would sound like. Might make them scarier, like sirens or something.

I'll add to this having multiples looking like a pan flute or wind chimes so it plays a chord. |

Here's an interesting link, spinning tubes that make a sound are well baked, so making them into nunchucks and adding the centrifugal force tone bending would be pretty straightforward. (link) Sounds very flying saucerey. |

The other thing that would be interesting is the way the sounds would abruptly stop when you catch them under your arm or even when it hits your back or chest. |

You could choreograph a fight scene for two persons using these by writing the musical notation for the two participants. |

You would also get weird sound changes as you go fast enough to get the 2nd (or 3rd) harmonics.
(I've played with a tube like the one in the video; IIRC I got the 3rd harmonic once.)
You could also rig them to get either higher or lower with more speed (or both at once, with the "chording" multi-style).
You could use different types of "wind -> sound" generators:
Flute
Whistle
Reed (1 or 2)
Aeolian harp
Bull-roarer (natural spin or controlled in some fashion?)
