Enter your cellphone carrier, and it'll plot a route based on maximizing signal availability. Simples.

Not necessarily. The goal is to maximize signal availability, not guarantee unbroken signal along a whole journey. Usually there are several routes available on long trips, some maybe adding an extra 10-15 minutes. Maybe an extra hour on cross-state treks. What it would do is find the best compromise, out of available routes, between signal availability and drive time. Maybe there could be an aggressiveness option?

Good one. The option of a strong signal route is one I would choose.
