After spending the night with a loved one in a cold hospital emergency patient room, I wish to offer this: We were cold and had limited clothing to warm us. So I whipped out my laptop and started running as many programs as I could to make the thing overheat. (Macs get hot!) Placed it on my loved one's tummy in the hospital bed and she was nicely warmed. The invention would be a software command that orders the laptop to overheat on demand.

Just download something like SETI@home, and it will keep the thing working full speed.

An option to just run the fan would be nice when its hot.

My old HP was big and warm. When my dorm's heat didn't work in the dead of North Dakota winter it was the warmest thing in my room. I would like a way to select a desired temperature, say 65 degrees, that the laptop would cut out at. [+]

I'm afraid that could upset my loved one's tummy. Of course, your loved one has no tummy, being a machine and all...

[links] //CPU Burn// That works for PCs, probably not for Macs, where St. Jobs takes care of all our needs through 'Apps.' For example, 'Pocket Heat', nice link by [Wrongfellow]. Unfortunate, St. Jobs pulled that App from the AppStore.

Hey, we haven't actually gotten canonization through yet. The Blessed Jobs will have to do for now.
