Life Clock

The Life Clock is a personalized, square-shaped wall clock containing N pixels, where N equals the total number of days from birth that the owner is expected to live. (Note: 80 years = 29200 days.) The past pixels are one color, the future pixels another. It’s a slow-changing clock, whose purpose is not to scare or depress people with their shrinking future days, but to inspire them to live life now to the fullest and most productive.

Since the precise date of demise cannot be predicted, the end days are shaded in some nice way indicating the most probable and somewhat less probable days on which the owner is expected to kick the bucket. The prediction is based on personal data and medical history plus actuarial tables built into the clock, and is updated whenever new data is added. Special days, like marriage, graduation, trip to Nepal, etc., can be highlighted in special color.

Culmination is on the horizon, I'll pass on monitoring it.

[AusCan] points to a very similar idea of his, Personal Hourglass of Time. An important difference is that with the Life Clock you can see every day distinctly. The interesting thing to me is that a grid containing, for example, 29200 pixels (separated by dark space so they appear distinct) is a rather small grid 171 x 171. Life is short.

Don't want to be a square.

On another thread [DrCurry] once asked; "How much differently would you live your life if you knew the day you were going to die?"

       It's a good question.

Please send us your social security number and a recent photograph of your life clock, and we'll have that life insurance policy set up for you right away.
