Lunar Sofas

Sofas with replica lunar craters on them

Many sofas, especially the leather variety, are covered with dimples. I want my sofa range to have a segment of a lunar map embossed into the leather instead.

Naturally you can chose which particular part of the moon that you want, so that each sofa is unique. Self adhesive microdot versions of the Apollo landers can be peeled off and stuck down for curious visitors to inspect. Packets of rubber Selenites are also available for slipping down the sides and back of the Lunar Sofa.

My own choice would be green leather, although Google have been helpful enough to provide this link in an alternative colour.

Lunar detail http://moon.google.com/
Best viewed at highest magnification to reveal hidden detail. Ignore colour and think green. Now imagine this stretched over a sofa. [xenzag, Feb 09 2007, last modified Feb 10 2007]

Couldn't you just use elephant hide and save the embossing?

Does it have to be earth's moon?
Galbinus_Caeli, Feb 09 2007

[MB] I would never use any elephant product.

[GC] Yes - the earth's moon is THE MOON and an object of affection. Strange folk with strange tastes might elect for another moon, but it must have craters and not be strewn with puny meteorites, or have any irregulary shaped lakes filled with dubious, impenetrable liquids.

[xenzag] I think rhino might be similar, but I'm not sure. Presumably, you could choose an area of moon surface to match whichever animal you were comfortable with (or on), rather than vice versa.

Could also start a line of bean bag chairs, based on Jupiter's lava moon, Io.

How about re-engineering various solar bodies to resemble existing furniture? Easier to alter one moon than several million sofata.

Can I get one with pillows shaped like the mooninites, Enignot and Err?
