A pager-sized device which continually samples the surrounding air and checks the tar/nicotine/CO content by using heated semiconductor-block sensors, or ISFETS.
The unit gives an integrated reading of smoke dosage in Equivalent Cigarette Units, and bleeps an alarm if user-defined thresholds arevexceeded.

I have a low-tech, less precise, more accurate version of this. I call it nose. Your version may work too. Logical question: why? |
//bleeps an alarm// + on the condition that it would "cough" instead. |
[World] - your nose may not, er, ... stand up in court. Maybe. |
Ah. The answer to my question is for lawsuits. Hmmm... You'll still have a tough time proving an unsafe dosage, but I'll bun it. |

I agree with Worldgineer. What is the purpose of telling someone that their smoking is too smokey? |
its *passive* smoking, crispee |
8th, I would have thought that you spend most of your time in smokey rooms <cough> |
+ for the idea, and + for a new verb. To annoy through excess. |
remember that most toxic gases (e.g. CO) have no odor |
This would be bad for everyone but the tobacco companies. |
It would put the onus of proving level of exposure on the plaintif. |
I guess I don't get it. Why not stop, point and yell SMOKE! when you see someone light up? Unless it's illegal why would anyone care if their smoke levels are too high? I think all we can do is just sit in non-smoking. |
Or yell FIRE! as we all know there's no smoke without it. |
This is not a novel invention. It is fact exists, and is used to check all kinds of air quality issues. |
