The Pot Extender resembles a 12" diameter hose-clamp, 4" wide.

When fitted over a pot rim, and the knob tightened, the rubber-lined channel on the bottom forms a seal with the lip of the cooking container, extending the effective height, and thus the volume, of the cooking utensil.

The beveled top edge of the Pot Extender allows the original pot-lid to be used.

"Jubilee clip" linked because the worm-drive doesn't go through the wall of the band. [FlyingToaster, Jan 09 2012]

I might even consider that one in lieu of the traditional Wedgewood troughs.

I'm from California, the title lends itself to all kinds of other things, not the kitchen kind.

Well I coulda called it a pan-maker-biggerer... then people'd be on about goats.

the title: "pot extender" is too ambiguous, how about "increased vat" ? :D

My parents once gave me the "marijuana can lead to more dangerous drugs" talk. I wanted to say "That's right! Some idiots use tobacco as a pot extender (q.v.)".
spidermother, Jan 11 2012

I also thought Pot Extender would be like Hamburger Helper - consisting of various filler drugs that could be added to marijuana at low cost.

Some folks use catnip to fill out a joint; it's not really a drug for humans, but it smokes smoothly and helps if you don't want to get completely twisted off of one or two drags. Or so I'm told.

Cutting yourself over and over wouldn't cause cancer, just a big welted scar and, with the right kind of fetish, hours of solo fun time.

I have no comment on the actual subject, other than that I like it.
Alterother, Jan 14 2012

Catnip is a drug for humans, although its affects are rather mild. Most dried culinary herbs - basil, oregano, etc - make pleasant extenders, too.

I keep imagining a clay pot, and frantically trying to build it up with coils of fresh clay as it threatens to boil over.

//Hmm. If you cut yourself in exactly the same place many times would that promote cancer ?//

Turns out that you may get cancer every time you cut yourself, and that skeletal muscle tissue has learned to tell cancer when to stop growing but the rest of our organs did not need this deffence to reach the age of grandparents.
Fascinating TED talk on it. [link]

I stand possibly corrected, and 'fascinating' is not a strong enough word.
