Rearward-facing add-on child seats

Some jurisdictions require that children below a set size must travel in a special car seat, which in some cases must be rearward facing.

BorgCo have developed a cheap and simple multipurpose solution to this problem.

The unit is based on a bicycle carrier frame design and attaches to the rear of the vehicle, either with straps, or with a special bracket to a towhitch. It can be fitted with one or more removable seats, or will carry three bicycles or one lightweight motorcycle. Work is continuing on retaining the seats while in this mode.

This leaves all the standard vehicle seating available for adults.

The seats can be provided with an acceptably wind- and weather-proof cover, and an optional seatbelt kit is available if the coil of rope and selection of bungee cords shipped with the basic system are inadequate.

       Kids would love this.

Exhaust fumes from the back of a typical car could cause problems. For electric cars, though, this might be better.

No more requisite visits to an amusement park, as one trip while strapped to the back of the car would suffice.

With luck, maybe not even one full trip...

       Like a backwards mother-in-law seat.

[tangent]Someone did once explain to me the difference between a dicky seat and a mother-in-law seat. I think it was to do with the possibility of communication between the rear seat and those inside the car when the hood was up, but I can't quite remember.[/tangent]
