SLOW with a left-tilted W

It would probably be more effective to paint the ‘SLOW’ word on the roads with a left-tilted W instead of the current practice of a right-tilted W (currently the leftmost and the third lines of the W are parallel with the O and the road (vertical); instead of this the 2nd and 4th lines should be vertical). Subliminally right-tilting suggests progress, growth, whereas left-tilting suggests halting, a decrease. It could be measured and the statistics could prove that it makes a higher percentage of the drivers slow down. The unusual form would also catch the view more.

Interesting, can you cite a reference ?

If the word SLOW was severely elongated and keystoned, it would optically fool the driver into thinking they were driving too fast to read the word correctly.

If it were painted in blue, they might think they were driving *really* fast.

...or if the driver's seat incorporated a weighing scale with a dashboard display indicating the driver's mass approaching infinity, and the dashboard clock is made to run slow.

// the driver's mass approaching infinity, and the dashboard clock is made to run slow. //

       BZZZZZZZT ! Bad Physics.

Both the clock and the scale are in the same relativistic frame of reference as the observer. Irrespective of the absolute velocity of the system, the local instrumentation will read "correctly".

External phenomena will be produced; Blue- and red-shifting of light sources, depending on their approach/departure angle, being one of the most noticeable.

Yes, well, you have Sinned, and now you must perform the appropriate Pennance.

You will be taken before Lord Buchanan, who will sentence you for your crimes. Then you will be brought before the Court and found guilty, after which sentence will be carried out.

(sp. "penance" - you have sinned and must now blah blah blah...)

       No, Pennance.
