St. Paisius Velichkovsky day

or... Velikovsky Day, just for [DrC]'s croissant.

Some of the worst ideas produce some of the best annotations, and most enjoyable reads. My favourite people in the halfbakery are those who consistantly post idea after idea, despite weathering a barrage of fishbones each time they do. I propose St. Paisius Velichkovsky day, where we remember, and celebrate, how enjoyable these bad ideas are.

Obviously, this wouldn’t apply to people who post two thousand word misspelled theoretical paragraphs on aliens.

Annotation:

Croissant if you change it to Velikovsky, the guy who proposed the wonderfully half-baked theory that the ancient tales of gods were directly drawn from the planetary movements of their namesakes.

Apparently, Velichkovsky as in "St. Paisius Velichkovsky and the great bakery disaster". Seemed appropriate. Right, I've added Velikovsky just for you. [link]

Can you give more details of how we would conduct these celebrations? Would we celebrate the ideas in general terms or would we nominate/vote/select certain ideas and focus on them? I see a benefit in this if it enables me to access some of the enjoyable bits of the HB I might otherwise have missed.

"hesychastic sketes"? Whassat then, eh?

[dobtabulous] Maybe hunt through the B/2 and find an idea which has been heavily fishboned. Add an interesting new slant in the form of an annotation, which will bring it back to everyone's attention. [DrBob] <bluff> You mean you don't know? </bluff>

<counterbluff> Of course I know. I was checking to see if you did. </cb>
