Sweetener Tape

Artificial sweetener dispensing system
  (+15, -3)(+15, -3)

Artificial sweetener, such as aspartame or sucralose, packaged as a non-adhesive continuous roll of tape that is pulled out and torn off as required.

Made of an edible protein/cellulose film similar to that which is used for breath strips, the tape dissolves in liquid but is strong enough to pull when dry. A small blade on the packaging is used to tear off the desired length. The tape is printed with subtle markings indicating approximate teaspoon sweetness equivalents, with a legend printed on the packaging (e.g., 1 inch = 1 teaspoon = 1 packet). Tear off a piece and drop it in your coffee cup.

Fructooliogosaccharide http://en.wikipedia...uctooligosaccharide
sometimes blended with stevia... could the mix be pressed into a tape form? [afinehowdoyoudo, Nov 29 2011]

Annotation:

I have nothing to add to this thoroughly sensible idea, other than the dispenser should pop open so you can chew on the entire roll at once

(-) for artificial. Natural is better. (+) for great idea.

stevia tastes terrible in sufficient quantity for real sweetening.

       Nonsense.

There is a sweet spot (no pun intended) between a tiny tiny amount and too much. Hence the need for precision dispensing.

Granted it doesn't have the syrupy texture of sugar, but the taste is spot on.

Loads of things which taste sweet, many of which are quite poisonous, such as lead and beryllium compounds, cardiac and cyanogenic glycosides and saponins.

Re [Beanangel]: Generally, artificial sweeteners, when tasted in large quantities undiluted by food and other flavors, taste like being punched in the tounge with a fist made of sugar-coated pennies that just escaped from a chemical spill.

This, however, is an extremely practical idea, and I would buy this so hard. A dietetic sweetened French pastry to you, assuming you still exist.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that i think this is a good idea!
