TO Hinges

Trigonopterus Oblongus hinging for various applications
  [vote for,

These cool creatures use a screw and nut assembly to drive the hinges in their legs. (linky)

I am looking for evidence of humans using such same assemblies for hinging actions. If they do not, then it is my idea to create some assemblies like this in various sizes and materials and go to town, see how useful it may be.
