The Reese Witherspoon movie

It's just Reese Witherspoon walking around and doing stuff.

Forget the silly plot (e.g. sorority queen becomes top lawyer and saves the world from nuclear disaster, or whatever). I know why I'm watching the movie, and it's not because of the story.

As long as we sometimes go to movies just to gawk at our favorite actors and actresses, why not have "movies" that focus on this purpose - where we can just watch the actors as they are in real life: walking around, doing their shopping, eating, talking to their friends, etc. without the "movie" pretense?

They will still be cute. I promise you. The actors can even wear makeup and movie-quality costumes. But the activities we watch would be fully endorsed by the actor or actress, with no need for scriptwriting and documentary stylization. These would be big buck bringers buildable on small budgets.

       National Enquirer - The Movie.

Actually, movie stars don't look cute in real life, they just look like people. The cute factor comes from spending hours in make-up, wardrobe, and a technique called "acting".

That said, I'll (+) any idea that aims at reducing lame plots and dodgy dialogue. You'd need a french director, though. They're the only ones that can make everyday stuff look significant.
egbert, Jul 15 2003

Silly plots are often enjoyable. Witherspoon helps carry the silly in an enjoyable way.

I don't want everday stuff sold to me as significant because, well, because it isn't.

Also, is this an idea or just a complaint?
bristolz, Jul 15 2003

This sounds *way* to much like stalking talk to me.
silverstormer, Jul 15 2003

i though after she got successfull, at least she'd change her name, "Withers poon" doesnt exactly roll off the tongue.
dsatan, Jul 15 2003

"stalking talk?" Witherspoon is a great name, I think.
bristolz, Jul 15 2003

Yes, stalking talk. You got a problem with that? You stalking to me?
silverstormer, Jul 15 2003

He can talk the walk, but can he stalk the talk?

//I don't want everday stuff sold to me as significant because, well, because it isn't//

Unless you're in love. At least, as far as I can remember...
egbert, Jul 15 2003

I like being John Malkovich. Malkovich Malkovich.
my face your, Jul 15 2003

       "I like being John Malkovich"
You're John Malkovich?
half, Jul 15 2003

For 15 minutes at a time, yes. No wait, that was a movie. Was it?
my face your, Jul 15 2003

Now *that*, Mr Burns, is a great movie. What egbert said in the middle paragraph.

Am I getting confused, or is Gary Busey related in any way to Jake Busey, star of Shasta McNasty? They look kinda similar (although Gary Busey looks very Nick Nolte-esque)
sambwiches, Jul 15 2003

yeah, Jake is Gary's son. The seed never falls far from the tree, as they say. If you can find it, there's a movie called "Best Laid Plans", which stars Ms. Witherspoon before she became the darling of Hollywood, and is actually okay.

Bliss - were these animated films, or were they showing an all-night Rin-Tin-Tin restrospective at your local multiplex..?
lostdog, Jul 15 2003

"Lassie Come Home", "Lassie, Do That Outside", and "Lassie, Go Away"?
lostdog, Jul 15 2003

I'd guess "Finding Nemo" and "Winged Migration" were two of them. Maybe "Sinbad" as the third?

Was "Best Laid Plans" that one where a brother and sister set out to do their own version of "Dangerous Liasons?"

The first thing I recall seeing Witherspoon in was "Pleasantville," which wasn't.
bristolz, Jul 15 2003

       Well, so mark it . . .
bristolz, Jul 15 2003

//Was "Best Laid Plans" that one where a brother and sister set out to do their own version of "Dangerous Liasons?"//
I think you're thinking of "Cruel Intentions."
my face your, Jul 16 2003

I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Election," which I think is Ms. Witherspoon's best flick.
krelnik, Jul 16 2003

"Election" was wonderful! One of my favorite movies. It was funny from beginning to end. I swear, I knew some of those people in high school. She was also awesome in "Freeway". She can play almost any kind of character with ease. The "Legally Blonde" series is a letdown.

Re: stalking: Making a movie like this would be at the actor's / actress's discretion.

Re: home movie: Unlike the bouncing videos tourists take, these movies would be filmed by professional cameramen and lighting directors. I'm not averse to them using make-up as well. Just avoid the silly plot. It's okay if you don't have an idea for a movie: just admit it.
phundug, Jul 16 2003

"It's okay if you don't have an idea for a movie: just admit it."

Yeah, just look at "Being John Malkovich" and see how far they got without an idea.
bristolz, Jul 16 2003

Bah! Groundhog Day is a great movie. I recently read an article about an non-denominational religious seminar that was going to have a whole session devoted to the positive message(s) within it.
krelnik, Dec 29 2003

She's not going to be naked. It's literally just a chance for people who think she's pretty to get to watch her for 2 hours on the big screen.

We're just doing away with the million-dollar expenses of formulating a stupid plot.
