Wireless trailer lights - I for one hate wiring my car for trailer lights anytime I get a new one...  it seems in this day and age a camera could be part of a trailer light setup... The camera would be positioned so that it could see your tail lights,  and software could detect which lights are active (running, brake, reverse and left or right turn) and activate the appropriate trailer light.  The system could be powered by a simple 12 volt power adapter that can use the cigarette style power connector most cars seem to have in the trunk area these days, or by a rechargeable battery.

How is your idea different than any of the existing wireless trailer light systems that come up on a cursory Google search? [21 Quest, Oct 01 2025]

17 years to generate your first idea….. that’s a lot of considered thinking time. Welcome to the Halfbakery.

There are a LOT of wireless trailer light systems that come up on a Google search. What's new, better, or different about your idea? One possible flaw that comes immediately to mind is lag, if it's relying on a camera to first detect your vehicle's light condition and then relay it to the trailer lights, which might result in your trailer being rear-ended because the brake lights didn't illuminate as soon as you hit the pedal.
