These alternating large pools of hot and cold water would be intended to create turbulence, updrafts, and downdrafts in the air above a place to be defended.Various sizes and shapes may create a thermal here or turbulent flow there for the purpose of throwing off attacking aircraft, cluttering radar, creating clouds, and forcing attacking aircraft into maneuvers that would make them less stealthy.
