UK-France rapproachment

Or, trying to get past about a thousand years of history

In a futile attempt to drum up some international friendship with the cheese-eating....the French, I'm suggesting renaming of English institutions for a week, possibly the last week of October.

Stonehenge gets renamed as the Gaulle Stones, then we get the House of Lourdes and so on. The Eurostar terminal in St Pancras, gets renamed Vichy..and so on..

       Suggested title England-France rapproachment.

Some parts of the UK still fondly remember the Auld Alliance!

       Forgot Blackpool tower....

This is a great plan. What have you got up your sleeve for when they think we like them?
MaxwellBuchanan, Jul 13 2014

Shhh. You'll spoil the best part ... 21st October is Trafalgar day, 25th is Agincourt day ... you get the idea now ?

Wait - the French have an entire court devoted to gin? I'm beginning to warm to them a little.

Most of the verdicts do get over-turned...it's the twist of lemon in the G#$%^& (knew the & was in there somewhere)T, always leaves grounds for a peel...

And for that, [n_m_rm], you deserve no mercy whatsoever, in this world or the next.

       So, no change there.

Good thing I didn't mention the Lourdes Cricket ground, where miracles (for the English side) are few and far between...

[bigsleep], that was merely a pretend game. They didn't invent *everything*, they didn't invent the internet, remember?
blissmiss, Jul 14 2014

Guessing it would be tricky to find the French equivalent of Birmingham....
not_morrison_rm, Jul 14 2014

There's some place up in the North-east where they stockpile and destroy recovered WW1 chemical munitions; that might be near to Walsall, or Dudley. But finding an equivalent to Birmingham itself is judged impossible. There's only one Hell*, likewise there's only one Birmingham.

*The one with the demons and pitchforks and pits of liquid fire and souls in eternal torment- and still a much more pleasant place than Smethwick.

       //naming schemes

You mean all children will just be given numbers instead?

       Would keep numerologists in business.

As I said earlier, if it can't get out of autre générale then it must be une blague.

Ahh, Le Mot de Gaulle, rather than Le Mot de Cambronne …

       Hmm, 3 fishbones now.

Like in the Indian Army revolt 1857, the situation is becoming bahadur and badahur.
