Wind Turbine Rides

Charge money for the ride of a lifetime.

Three lucky, fit participants are delivered to the base of a giant wind turbine. They climb the tower to the hub at the top, refresh themselves, break for lunch and finally each choose a turbine blade. As each partially feathered blade begins to angle slightly downwards a participant will climb into it and slide down the blade length to the tip.

The blade tips have been fitted with a gimballed seat and harness apiece within transparent end caps. Once the participants have signaled their physical security the blades rotate slightly to capture the available wind.

The degree of blade rotation and thus turbine speed is determined by a 2/3 majority vote via signals received from the participants. The seat gimbals assure each participant sits upright to enjoy the spectacular view and thrilling ride at a potential 50 mph.

The ride is over after a 6-hour duration or when no further signals are received from the participants.

Indeed. I had seen the linked website but had stopped at the initial picture/ride. Oh well...

Perhaps within the blades is a corkscrew weight system than can be extended or retracted to balance different loads?

You're in for a thrill. Long-bladed mills run 120 mph at the tips, and can be as fast as 180.
