a baseball cap that is made up of a fabric covered layer of hardened foam. the foam would be impact rated to the standards of say skateboarding helmets.

standard features include a breakaway bill for protection against falls, and a flex-fit capable interior webbing that will keep the hat on your head at impact.

       It's a helmet cap-- a helmap.

Why would the bill have to break-away? I've actually had the bill of my ball cap deflect objects (softballs, hockey sticks, angry beekeepers) away from my face, maintaining my boyish good looks. And the flex-fit webbing will have to be very well-fitted to keep the helmap on one's head. Perhaps the addition of a skin-tone chinstrap would be helpful?

well, the breakaway bill prevents it from going through your forehead when you trip over something.

there are some alternatives to flexfit, maybe like the head gripping part of a welding mask?
