Bullseye Torch

torch that's always on target
  [vote for,

Bullseye Torch has a bright red laser beam at its centre, surrounded by a circular array of coloured bulbs. This results in a bullseye, contained within coloured rings being placed on anything illuminated by the torch.

Naturally this works best over modest distances as the colours will fade and diffuse at range, but with the centre dot remaining in sharp focus.

With the Bullseye Torch, anything can become a real target of attention.

LaserCube projector review https://newatlas.co...icked-lasers/60291/
[kdf, Sep 19 2020]

       Well, laser target designators are Baked and WKTE, but this introduces a nice element of competition.

       It also makes target shooting at night much more practical.

       A good deal of inexpensive amusement could be had with one of these devices and, for example, a pistol crossbow.

       So, something a like portable laser light show projector (link) made smaller and lobotomized to only draw concentric circles?

       The LaserCube is a portable, battery- powered RGB laser projector. Weight 3 lb, sized 4 inches per side. Uses high- speed moving mirrors to draw patterns and animations. It can also focus on a single point at full power, capable of burning wood. Or flesh, eyeballs, etc.

       Can you think of anyone around here who would want one?

       //a pistol crossbow//

       It would be interesting to see how targeting would be affected by refraction through different optical media. For example, if I shone a target on that small carp in the aquarium over there, I bet you couldn't hit it with your pistol crossbow from here.

       Go on then, show me.

       <Picks up crosbow/>

       <Takes aim/>

       <Bad memories come flooding back/>

       <Twitching and whimpering/>

       That was a nasty thing to do, [pert].

       No. Can't think of anyone who would be satisfied with just one...

       Exactly. I *was* going to post a link to $5 pattern lens that fits on a laser pointer - but the LaserCube looks like a lot more fun.

       Singly, fun. In an array, entertaining and exciting and highly desirable ...

       Laser arrays are fun and useful for a lot of things. But for weaponry and other cutting/burning purposed, there’s still the matter of keeping them correctly in phase - otherwise you’re just wasting joules,
kdf, Sep 20 2020

       You're right. It was petty of me. I apologise.
pertinax, Sep 20 2020

       Who are you, and what have you done with the real [pertinax] ?

       We're going to let him know his account's been hacked, you know ....
