In cultures like Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan, kite fighting (known as gudiparan bazi or similar) is a longstanding tradition where participants coat their kite strings with abrasive materials like crushed glass to slice through opponents' lines during aerial battles. This turns simple kite flying
into a competitive sport of maneuvering and cutting.
Apply the same principle to modern drone warfare: Equip defensive drones with long, trailing lines made of ultra-strong, abrasive-coated filaments (e.g., carbon fiber embedded with diamond dust or ceramic particles). These "fighter drones" would be piloted or autonomously maneuvered to intersect the path of enemy fiber-controlled attack dronesthose tethered by thin optic cables for power and secure control. By dragging the abrasive line across the enemy's tether, it would snag, grind, and sever the fiber, hopefully causing the attack drone to lose control and crash.
Profitable use could be made of the tactics used in kite fighting. Alternatively in heavily jammed areas patterns could be autonomously flown by several patrolling drones, flying back and forth, high and low to make sure no cable-guided drones on either side could use the air space.

Good heavens, Voice! This is an excellent mod to the Gummy Drone! Kite or drone, and abrasive string could cut fiber-op thread, preserving the drone for a further use. |

Anti drone warfares gonna be a big growth industry. Unfortunately. [+] |

Given that a drone is very manoeuverable in 3 dimensions, a blade or scissors on the front or underneath would be much better for a "single precision" attack.
Abrasive kite string (needs a weight on the end for tension) would be good for the "area denial" multi-drone system.
"Anti drone warfare" will result in "anti anti drone" systems, & end up with various drones all circling each other, as they fly towards their target & simultaneously away from a pursuer. |

Funny, I was telling kite fighting stories yesterday. One short story I read as a kid led to the kite fighting festival in my neighborhood circa 1966. Once I introduced razor blades it was all over shortly. |

I'm imagining a small pendulum at the end of the abrasive line, whose weight would make the abrasive process work faster. |
