EJO Dance Party

Edward James Olmos Manila Dance Party
  (+7, -1)

Every night, celebrated actor Edward James Olmos could host a show where contestants dance on the rooftops of Manila (a city which, honestly, might benefit from a little more going on). Contestants could walk onto the show at their leisure, provided they were wearing the appropriate monotone bodysuits, since the competition would take place at any number of public patios atop the bigger buildings. These patios would be predesignated through the placement of lights that would flash certain colors onto the different walls. Contestants would find an area with lights the color of their bodysuit, and dance for however long they felt like. Their performances would be voted on by people on the city streets who video their favorite dancer with their smartphones, and then text the recording to the number of the show. A computer could tally the votes to the individual dancers by recognizing the unique signatures encoded in the different rhythms of the flashing lights. Show producers could then remotely organize the contestants so that they were dancing in the most-videoed areas by manipulating the colors of the background lights. At the end of the show, the winner with the most votes would be invited to meet Edward James Olmos, who would discuss the highlight reel of the night’s dances, and then smack the winner across the face.

Welcome, [MSantos]. This is pleasingly over-complicated [+]. Could you provide any links that might explain the smacking joke?

Don't know about the rest of the idea but Edward James Olmos played the cop in Blade Runner who made the origami figures. Otherwise, what pertinax said. +

this idea is so obvious, i can't believe someone hasn't thought of it already.

They have, but the institution where they are confined won't let them have sharp objects, so they haven't been able to write it down.

       Until now.
