I have been eating lots of vegetables lately like broccoli and
celery
and have noticed that ranch dressing makes it a lot easier to eat
them raw. But then you have to get a bowl dirty to hold the ranch
dressing and the celery isn't shaped like the bottom of the bowl so
you invariably waste
a lot of dressing. And I remembered how
celery
will suck up colored water so that you can have purple celery, and
thought, what if you could have the celery suck up flavoring. So
this
idea is for flavored celery where you have the cut celery stalks
suck
up flavored water.

Seriously, you eat rabbit food ... ? |

Some humans are VERY odd ... |

You can make pretty much any vegetable taste an awful lot
better by feeding it to a pig first. I believe the French were
the first to realize this. |

It works for beef too ... and has the benefit for moralists that cows
are entirely vegetarian. |

If will it suck up booze, you can do celery cocktails. |

[link] We invented the best (booziest) way to eat celery up here in the frozen north long ago. I'd advise visiting during the warm season, aka, July. |

I know this is a completely stupid point, but celery is already flavoured. |

Is this a good time to do the "celery is an aphrodisiac" joke yet? |

Buy a dozen food coloring colors, and figure how to inject them into celery. try the flavors later. |

Celery is good with peanut butter. |

[+] but it wouldn't work properly for salad dressing, most which flavour is in fat and oils, which wouldn't capilliarate. |

Mmmm, Caesars. I miss them. |

Roll your flavours into a Play dough like foodstuff then
plonk it into the "U" of the celery. I also agree with
[popbottle] able the merits of a smear of peanut butter in
celery |

Anything which takes more calories to consume than you get out of it is like, anti-food. That stuff could kill you. |

I thought *flavours* were not allowed here...but I like the
idea, sort of...Actually, celery itself is very flavourful. |

Maybe using high pressure? |

The idea is a technique to apply the flavor, rather than the
flavor itself. |
|
|
As far as the idea, I'm betting the result would have a very
short shelf life, and the number of flavors you could actually
get uptake on would be limited, but it should be at least
somewhat feasible. |

My butler has a brilliant celery-based hangover
recipe. You take two sticks of celery, chop them
finely, and place them in a cup of cold water.
Meanwhile, mix together 1 cup of tomato juice, 1/2
cup of vodka, and a dash of Tabasco, in a tall glass
over ice. Drink the tomato juice/vodka/Tabasco mix.
Strain and discard the celery. |

[MechE] Thanks for the clarification. Celery sucking flavours
should contain chocolate, chili, turkey, stuffing, cranberry
sauce, wait, I want a Thanksgiving dinner flavour then. |
