Sticking plasters - "band-aids" - are useful for dealing with minor injuries, but there are difficulties applying them one handed, particularly when the injury to be treated is on the dominant hand. They have a tendency to curl back, or stick to themselves. Attempts to disentangle the plaster, employing an injured hand still oozing blood, can be a painful and frustrating activity.

The solution is the supply with the pack of band-aids of a small plastic or cardboard tool resembling a pair of very wide tweezers. On the flattened tips of the "tweezers" is a layer of low-tack adhesive.

The plaster to be used is placed outer side up on a flat surface. The holder is placed on the plaster from above, the tips stickining to the opposed outer edges of the plaster and lightly stretching it along its major axis. The apparatus is then inverted and the protective sheets of plastic removed.

Using one hand, the plaster can then be precisely applied to the injury. Once the adhesive has gripped, the holder can be gently removed and the plaster smoothed down. You'll be glad you had a One-Armed band Aid to hand !

       ...or use a spray-on bandaid?

       But seriously, how about something like a sticky tape dispenser?

       // a sticky tape dispenser? //

       With its little serrated cutting edge ? Great way to end up using the whole roll .... every time you cover up one cut, you end up making another.....
