So like, a large part of communication today (especially among young people) takes the form of text messages and social media postings such as Facebook and Twitter. But these modes of communication translate poorly into TV shows. E.g. if someone sends a text message during a TV show, the action must stop while they display the message big enough for the viewer to see.

Because TV is limited to face-to-face interaction and dialogue, it is becoming out of sync with the real way communication works, especially in shows that involve young people. So, I proprose we add "companion screens" to the standard TV screen. One will be a text message displayer, and one will be a monitor that displays Facebook/Twitter/other social media type messages.

These companion screens can be purchased and plugged into your TV for use during "txt-enhanced" shows, or if you have a compatible smartphone or laptop computer, you can log on to the TV show's website to receive the text/message feeds that way while you watch the program.

Would it not be simpler and more effective just to cull the "young people" ?
